Prime Minister Scott Morrison says the National Cabinet have considered a vaccine mandate in various forms but have made no hard decision on the matter because the AHPPC have not yet recommended the implementation of such a measure.
The prime minister said he had discussed with the premiers a mandatory requirement for people working with vulnerable people, especially in the aged care sector.
A vaccine mandate remains under review by the authoritative health body, the AHPPC and has not yet been deemed necessary but Mr Morrison warned a different decision could easily be made when the vaccine roll out begins.
